Celeste Lecaroz holds her fifth solo exhibit, “Blue Skies, Crimson Wind” at One Gallery, The Atrium of Eastwood City Mall, Libis, Quezon City from March 1 to 11, 2021. Och Gonzalez, award-winning writer, writes the exhibition essay, and declares that with this exhibit, “the artist invites us to engage in a wistful return to innocence and connection, not as a means of escape, but as a note of hope to carry us forward into brighter days.”
“The artist’s bold and playful style shines through the interplay between light and shadow. Vivid shades are overlaid on a dark background, itself a metaphor for optimism. The girls run around and play in dresses that reflect the blue skies of the heavens. Lecaroz uses bright saturated hues and subdued darks and employs contrasting techniques with deft mastery to create perfect juxtapositions of light and dark. The result of this thesis of colors is an illusion of crimson wind, of light illuminating the girls’ hair.”
