The Philippine Embassy in Israel on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, inaugurated Balai Quezon, which pays tribute to former Philippines President Manuel Quezon and his open-door policy that saved hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust. The exhibition room houses Quezon memorabilia and historic documents, as well as a Spontanrealismus portrait of the late President painted by visual artist Celeste Lecaroz. The painting, which was unveiled during the inauguration ceremony, was commissioned and donated by Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Jerusalem Shimon Weinbaum.
